What to see and do

This area comes into its own in the summer months as so many events are based on the great outdoors and some of the simpler pleasures are the best - walking in the vineyards, attending one of the numerous music events, night markets, taking a trip on the river or spending a day at the seaside which is within easy reach.

There is still a lot to be experienced on cooler days - a tour of a  Cognac house or chateau or a visit to a museum or gallery which cover a range of subjects.  Those interested in history or architecture will enjoy sites from Roman amphitheatres to beautiful Romanesque cathedrals and churches.

Festivals abound throughout the year celebrating different aspects of French life - from food to music to film to name but a few.

Lastly we have brought together some ideas for activities that can be enjoyed by all the family
